#Existing HikVision Camera - Best Hardware for an NVR Frigate/Coral Server?

I've yet to setup my own home setup with Reolink cameras with Coral/Frigate, but now I have the impetus for my workplace needing to make use of some existing cameras, they seem to be some decent ones, for an NVR server with push notifications. We might also have extras to ebay but I am trying to figure out with total camera count once I figure out the field of view etc, but probably going to be using about 7 of these. They appear to be 720p and IR. The plugs look like POE, but also have maybe a DC split off so maybe ethernet connection + wired DC power. I can get some pictures next week but this is the very product model https://www.123securityproducts.com/ds-2cd2112f-i-12.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA6t-6BhA3EiwAltRFGA8inVBdH-Z9tjRj4UkpEFX6C-s0Qh96IqLUZvTAJyikZiNeyeLA9xoCI-8QAvD_BwE

I am wondering if maybe a small VPN server with home assistant and frigate + coral docker setup might work for this. I saw intel is offering some new affordable graphics cards as well. Whatever is minimal but maybe micro or mini ATX case + board just so its not a laptop. Maybe with an M.2 for immediate storage and larger SSD for archived footage backup?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hikvision are best avoided: https://ipvm.com/reports/hikua-bans Have a look at hanwha, axis, or maybe eva (though they are more fancy consumer device) for more trustworthy cameras. The Hikvision cameras that I had (before throwing them out) spoke rtsp just fine though, so no difficulty with any linux device that can handle the codec at the resolution with ffmpeg really. Intel core 8th gen+ should do it, I think.

Yeah well I think we are stuck with them if we could just get them to work. But if that means avoiding home assistant all together and buying retail hardware software thats the route they are going to go. The cutsheet on that website says H.264 / MJPEG for video codec. Sounds like mroe of a firmware issue though?

It does list RTSP in those protocols as well as others.
