#Inexpensive ZWave smart plugs?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Almost never going to find a Z-Wave product < $20 unless it's on clearance. > $20-$30 there are some options like Zooz, Minoston, Shelly. Zooz is decent, can't vouch for the others.
Looks like there's a Neo plug on Amazon for $19.99. Neo have a firmware bug that produces bogus power reports, avoid if you need those.
You're not going to get Z-Wave products as cheap as Zigbee because Z-Wave has an embedded license fee which is passed onto the consumer. I use Zooz 700 series smart plugs which work great.
Another vote for zooz
Ok thanks folks. I haven't used ZWave products for at least 7 years so I had forgotten about the license fee.
Two other questions:
Am I likely to see less interference from other wireless devices, since they work on a different spectrum?
What hardware do I need to control the ZWave devices? I'm currently using a poe ZigBee coordinator, but I have a skyconnect that's sitting unused...
Any thoughts on this Zooz product? Basically it could get me down to $20/device 😅
No experience with it, but it's $75 (less shipping, or free shipping > $99) straight from Zooz (thesmartesthouse.com)
