#Commercial use of Homeassistant screenshots?

Hello dear home automation enthusiats!
I founded a small company that is focussing on KNX building automation and consultation for smart home planning.

I realized that a lot of customers are looking for a visualization of their KNX but feel like it's too expensive to go with a vendor based approach like GIRA X1 and other competitors.

Thus I want to advertise Homeassistant to the potential customers. I don't sell Homeassistant software itself, but the configuration of it based on the need of the customer etc.
Yesterday I started creating webspace, instagram profile etc and now the question is:

Am I allowed to use Screenshots of Homeassistant in a picture or is this against the license?
What do I - concrete - need to do to be compliant?
I would anyway mention that I'm not the holder of the copyright and would provide links and also mention Homeassistant as Open Source and provide some disclaimer.

So, may I use screenshots of my configured dashboards to "advertise" Homeasistant and make also the customers home a bit smarter? 🙂 Thanks a lot!

Thanks! I've been looking this morning on the HA website and didn't saw a contact mail address. I now wrote a quick mail 🙂

The apache 2 licence does not block any commercial usage as long you feedback any changes of the source code back to the owner.

The artwork is creative common. You can reproduce the original artwork aslong you dont make money of it directly. Like making coffee mugs. You can make them use them for your self. Cant sell them.

Hi!! This is exciting to see, I am always stoked when the community figures out how to share their work and spread knowledge on how to use Home Assistant. :3

You are more than welcome to use our logo as long as:

  • You are using it only as a way to describe what you are using, not as if you are part of any of our programs.
  • You do not alter the image from its distinct features.

Both of these are explained in the linked page. 😄
