Here where i live some people use whatever for ther chimney to fire. It smells really bad outside, not the typical firewood smell. I want a sensor that can "smell" the differrents to "normal" air quality and give me a sensor for that so i can shut off the ventilation system in our house until the quality is good again.

Does anybody have an idea or knows a sensor that can do that? Would be great if it is made for outside to i can get the info as early as possible?

I think it depends entirely on what in the air is causing the bad smell

"smell" itself isn't a thing that can be measured

maybe decting smoke? Smoke sensor will not work i think because it is not intense enough?

I would guess any kind of pm2.5 sensor would pick up burning. That's whatever they use for AQI readings which spike whenever there's any wildfires.

Probably cant distinguish between burning wood and burning ???, but maybe that's good enough.
