#Best Smoke Detectors?

Most smoke detectors will be battery powered, so not routers
I have hardware w/ battery backup.
Right, you said boost network, which battery powered devices won't do
That said, I've got one of the Heimann smoke detectors, and one of their CO detectors, both work fine
If it is hardwired w/ battery backup, that wouldn't act as repeaters?
If you can find them, sure, but the ones I've seen are battery powered
100% battery only?
why? i have 14 tuya zigbee smoke sensors and they work.
how do i know? someone has already reacted correctly
Do you want smoke detectors you can rely on to actually work well, or just sort of work?
Tuya stuff is made to the lowest possible price point
Which, the UK Consumer rights association, did a review of smart smoke detectors a while back - almost all of them were shockingly bad at their primary role, detecting smoke
Are zwave smoke detectors a better choice?
No
They're a different choice, that's all. What matters is the amount of effort the manufacturer has put in to the smoke detector part - Nest's are some of the best, other brands will vary.
Checking certification is one thing you can do, but passing certifications just means it meets the minimum standard
Can you get air quality and other sensor data from nest?
Don't think so, but you want that kind of thing on WiFi rather than Zigbee or Z-Wave anyway
Replaced hardwired with battery backup ones with First Alert Z-Wave, I like them a lot even at the $40 they go for now
Staying ahead of battery low alerts is worth it alone
You won’t get caught at 3am with a beep unless you neglect to pay attention
so far they have looked like the best option I have found, but they are zwave (which I don't have setup yet) and are battery only, but that's the direction I am leaning right now
