Is it possible to set an image i have on a nas that is mounted in HA as a background on a dashboard? I can browse to the image and view it in HA media browser.

you can't use images from the media browser for dashboard backgrounds

Use the view dialog to upload a copy of it as your background, that should work.

so i either need to use the upload image or put it in like the www folder?

yes one of those two would work

Getting /media to work would be nice for someday, but it has some challenges to make that work. maybe on the to do list...
