#Connecting Tapo P110M plug via matter

The device works, more folks succesfully adopted it. For now only the switch entity is present. I've started a forum thread about the monitoring, which is coming in a future firmware update (we hope).

I’ve updated to HA 2024.6, which includes the Matter 1.3 specs. My first and single Matter device, the Tapo P110M plug with energy monitoring still only shows 1 entity: the switch to turn it on and off. What needs to be updated or done to get energy monitoring in HA working for this device? A firmware update from TP-Link? Or specific matter ch...
The issue I'm seeing tho is it won't even adopt into HA so I don't see any entities appearing at all
I'm not using the Tapo integration, just HA and Matter. I was able to add the device using the QR code scan in the Android Companion app and had no issues. There can be several problems adding Matter WiFi devices. Most issues I've seen were related to VLAN's and/or IPv6.
try adding it to tapo, then use the matter code from the device settings. That worked for me
it always failed if i tried adding it before connecting it to the tapo app. Also, when using the code from the tapo app, use the "add existing device from another ecosystem" in home assistant, not the "add new," and expect it to fail a couple of times before connecting.
fwiw, my matter devices are on VLANs, I just needed to make sure IPv6 was enabled on the network, mDNS was allowed on the VLAN, and the VLAN interface was enabled in Home Assistant.
Onboarding to matter is very finicky, even has the tendency to say it failed when it clearly did not.
When you add these tapo devices to the tapo app, make sure that you check multiple times for a firmware update. Im noticing that sometimes when you add them, tapo says the firmware is up to date when it really is not.
