Hello! Just got my HA Green today and I'm am folllowing some guide that leads me to the "Companion App" in the settings. I don't see it at all.

Does anyone know why?

There is no companion app settings unless you are using a companion app 🙂

#

Companions app are Android/iOS/macOS Apps

glossy girder
#

AHHH so I have to access it via my phone?

rich jackal
#

Yup

#

What do you want to achieve?

glossy girder
#

Am I right to say that I access my HA the same way I do as my PC?

rich jackal
#

On your phone you can download the app

@subtle salmon may be able to help you, I’m an iOS dev unfortunately, but it should be just, download the app then the sensors will show up in home assistant itself, then you create your automation

If you don't mind, I do have some automation questions I'm trying to wrap my head around.

#

Is it ok if I ask you here?

#

I got it working but I feel like.. There has to be a easier way to do it 😅

Would it be possible to have a sticky post for this channel, explaining what a companion app is? I had been wondering myself. Suggestion:
"A companion app is an application that runs as a standalone app on Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android."

We don't have a native windows app though, but good idea, @warm jacinth can we have this information highligted somewhere here?

Hi everyone, I'm having fun configuring my carplay with some quick accesses that allow me to activate/deactivate my iAlarm anti-theft device. I would like to be able to view the status of the alarm in the car at any time. I can't do it, can you help me? Thank you

rich jackal
#

If you add the entity to quick access, what happens?

drowsy plume
#

I can't find my integration in the list, I only find my scripts

rich jackal
#

You need to use the tab "Entities" then look for your entity name

drowsy plume
#

sono entrato nella scheda delle entità, ma non riesco a vedere le entità riguardanti iAlarm

#

I entered the entities tab, but I can't see the entities relating to iAlarm

rich jackal
#

Then it's not compatible with CarPlay yet. can you send me a screenshot on how it looks in home assistant? show me the entity you want to display and it's entity ID

drowsy plume
rich jackal

tap "1 dispositivo"

#

I need to see the entities

drowsy plume
rich jackal
#

tap "iAlarm" under "Controlli"

CarPlay does not support alarm_control_panel domains yet

drowsy plume
rich jackal
#

If you want to control it, you can create scripts for that, if you want to see it's value you will need to create a helper sensor.
Fow now CarPlay can't display alarm_control_panel

drowsy plume
#

how do I go about creating a helper sensor

rich jackal
#

Settings >> Devices and services >> Helpers >> Create helper >> template

drowsy plume
#

thanks, I'll try now

#

I've never tried this feature, can you give me directions? Once I have written test helper where can I find it in carplay?

rich jackal
#

is your helper done and displaying the correct information?

#

(in home assistant)

drowsy plume
#

no 😫

rich jackal
#

If you want to create a template, go to settings, devices and services.Select the Helpers Tab. Click Create Helper. Select the Template Helper.
Select Template a sensor for example.Give your template sensor a name. In my case it's NetPower.Enter your template code in the State Template field. Select a Unit of Measurement. In my case it's Watt.Se...

I managed to create a template sensor and I also found it among the entities, but I can't find it in carplay

rich jackal

Show me the entity please

Again. This is an entity with alarm control domain, it won’t work with home assistant.

You need something like sensor.mioallarme

#

Change the type of your sensor

#

I’ll be away from home right now, so if I delay to respond that’s why.

drowsy plume
#

ok, thanks

In carplay, I finally find a badge with status indication. Thank you for your precious help. I think I'll have to bother you again. For now, Merry Christmas
