#Would a thin client for HA require WiFi if connected by cable?

Hello everybody. I just ordered a thin client (HP T640) to which I want to move my HA (currently running on a RPI4). I plan to connect the thin client to my network by cable... Since the thin client does not have on-board WiFi cababilities I now wonder if I should get a USB-Wifi dongle as I am not quite sure if it actually needs wifi to be able to detect some devices (WiFi lightbulbs)... but that shouldnt be the case, right? Wouldnt it just detect the devices through the wired network?
Could anybody please let me know if a wifi connection is required to detect some smart devices?
