#How to install ZBT-1 Thread firmware without "Home Assistant OS"?

As a small starter project, I want to connect two Thread-based Matter devices (tado thermostat X) to Home Assistant, already running within Docker on my home server. I do not want to connect it to my home network or to the world, it should stay separate and local.

I've bought a ZBT-1 and connected it via USB to my home server, added --device=/dev/ttyUSB0 to my Docker config and the device was detected by HA very nicely. However, when it offered me to install the firmware for Thread, it only followed with the message it needs "Home Assistant OS" to install firmware. That's a bummer! I guess I need to find another way.

Apparently there is a web flasher:
https://connectzbt1.home-assistant.io/firmware-update/
It says: The firmware update is temporarily unavailable. Another bummer.

Now I'm looking for a simple tool I can use on the Ubuntu command line, but I cannot find any. What's the current way to convert a ZBT-1 to Thread?
