Hi,
I would like to turn all my switches smart. I would like to know which hardware to buy. When I go on AliExpress there are different modules and I’m not sure what electronic configuration I need.

I have different switch boxes with 1-4 buttons each for light, some are bridges (turn on/off the same lamp from 2-3 different bottoms around the house), and different boxes for window curtain (up/down).

I have SkyConnect and TubesZB.

Please advise,
Thanks!

Do you want to replace your switches with smart switches or do you wanna make your existing switches smart by installing a device behind the switch?

@ebon plinth I can use the existing or replace with new. If you can show both options it will be great

well, I'm not familiar with the Israeli market, I don't even know what wall plug you guys use 🙂

That being said, the Shelly devices are popular here in the UK, I have a couple myself: https://www.shelly.com/collections/smart-switches-dimmers
You can install these behind the switches and control them with HA and the physical switch. Some have power monitoring features that can be useful for automations.

On the other route I would recommend some kind of ESPHome (or other open source firmware) device. I have tried some of the Athom devices and they've worked flawlessly so far: https://www.athom.tech/esphome
They have 1-4 gang wall switches and mini relays too.

I use Leviton switches. A little more expensive, but very reliable and they play nicely with HA. Each one requires an IP address and they do require access to the cloud to operate. When I blocked their access to the internet they would not work. That is my only complaint.
