I have literally scoured the internet and cannot find anything so i am sourcing from you all. I have an Espresso machine that requires a 20A outlet to power both of its boilers at the same time. On a standard 15A outlet, it knows to only run one at a time, but it's inefficient for recovery times. 20A it will power both if I am plugged into the dumb outlet. But i would like to be able to turn on the machine with my automations.
#US Plug - 20A Zwave (or zigbee) Outlet Needed (In wall or smart switch)

Zooz has a universal relay that can handle a 20A load. But, you'll need to do some wiring to connect it to your Espresso machine. https://www.getzooz.com/zooz-zen17-universal-relay/
Wait i have one of those for my garage door
O.o i didn't think to do that
That doesn't 100% solve my issue though - and i don't really want to get into my internals of my machine
that's a super cool idea though 😄
Hi @lyric bobcat,
I literally got one of these and a little box and made an extenion cord with this. Get the A zigbee one, though. I accidently got the WiFi one which works, but had to deal with Tuya.

( there's 2 in there...)
The other end plugs into an outlet
Yours could be simplier.
another option might be to use a shelly relay controller (e.g. shelly wave 1 for z-wave) or similar device with dry contacts, and use that to control a contactor or a relay with a higher power rating.
Oooo ok that's cool
So this is awesome. I'll have to see what else is on that circuit though
Ohh I see what you did. You made your own box basically.
I've looked around at Shelly and I think they all cap out at 15A.
Send more pics of the extension if you can. Box too. I'm super interested in this solution
Wait. Shelly does have a 25A Z-Wave one

Ope but it's 2 sets of contacts at 16A each. The tuya one looks like a winner
In this video, I'm excited to share with you my experience with Tuya lights in Home Assistant, a project that has taken me all summer. Since I got these lights for free, I decided to put them up and see how they would work. Let me show you what I did.
Because I am visiting at the Cottage, which is a bit of a commute from my main home, this proj...
Maybe that?
I subscribed and giving it a watch.
(it's not what I needed but entertaining)
Thanks
I don't have more pics, all in the video. the other end of the cord just plugs into a mains outlet. The box is a plastic couple of dollar din rail box from Amaon. the "breaker" mounts on the din rail.
You could use that shelly dinrail breaker the same way and have something a bit better inthe box.
The one inthe pic has 2 contacts I see, the one I found has one set.
Yeah I think I'll use the one you sent. I'm okay with that since it is ZigBee. I have a few ZigBee things so the Network presence will be there.
The breaker in the electrical box is 20A. I shouldn't put a higher amp breaker on the extension cord right? Better to match the amperage at the box I assume
You essentially made one of these. But higher amps. Genius.
Well back in the day, original sonoffs, that's what you did...
That breaker was a but to shifty to me to replace the house stuff, so I made it an appliance.
