Hi am a noob when it comes to LED lighting and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for where i can read up on this. Obvs i want HA integration.

Im doing a house refurb so have lots of different requirements for LED lighting from floating stairs, bedrooms, ourdoor etc..

Ive tried doing a few searches but with soo many options im not sure where to start... My mind is blown already. #LED

Based in the UK

Thanks

What are you looking for?

  • Simple LED bulbs in standard fittings that you can turn on and off?
  • LED bulbs that you can dim?
  • LED bulbs that you can change the colour temperature or colour of?
  • LED strips or panels like any of the above?
  • Digital LED strips that can do fancy effects?

Most of the above... But i guess my question was more about controller/controlling that integrate with zigbee and HA, WLED also is this what i should be doing?

didnt want to buy a load of kit only to need to do it a different way.

sorry for the basic questions...

WLED For digital, Zigbee for everything else

#

Simple on/off or just dimming is best done with a smart dimmer/switch and dumb LED bulbs - then that works even if HA is down, and nobody has to learn anything new

#

For everything else ... buy Hue, Innr, Gledopto, or Ikea Tradfri (for the white anyway, their colour bulbs historically aren't as good as the other brands)

dont have any physical light switches being installed... πŸ™‚ will all be PIR sensor and Sonoff NSPanels

I hope there's something going in their place

The Principle Of Least Astonishment means that things should work in an obvious way - don't expect that you can teach people to do things differently to how they've always done it

You need things that behave like switches so that people don't have to learn how to adapt to your house

Plus, I can guarantee that your automations won't cover every situation that the humans want, and being able to over-ride them is 100% needed

#

Good luck on that πŸ˜‰

well im going to start that way and work through the problems.. if you give people a way out they dont put the effort in to learn/adapt to new ways...

#

there will be a NSPanel in each room

As long as that can control the lights you'll be golden

#

Plus you're overlooking guests/visitors

#

But hey, good luck

dont have any freinds πŸ™‚ lol

#

im not over looking them, daytime guests shouldnt be a problem for lighting... just those that may stay at night..

anyone used any LED controllers with Zigbee from Aliexpress that they recommend?
