Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot a major issue I'm experiencing with my Z-Wave network in Home Assistant. I've been running a stable Z-Wave network using the JS Z-Wave integration for nearly two years, but recently, my Zooz switches and dimmers have started to fail, and I can't seem to resolve the issue.

System Details

  • Z-Wave Stick: Zooz USB 700 Series Z-Wave Plus S2 Stick (ZST10 700)
-- Firmware: Updated from 7.17.2 to 7.18.3 (issue persists on both versions)
-- Stick placed on a USB extension
  • Integration: Z-Wave JS (Standard installation method via Home Assistant)
  • Devices: Zooz Zen71 and Zen72 light switches/dimmers. Zooz sensors ZSE43, ZSE40

The Issue

  • Devices drop from the network and show as “dead” in Z-Wave JS.
  • When attempting to re-add these devices, they appear as "unknown" nodes or fail to include.
  • The issue seems isolated to switches and dimmers—sensors remain operational.
  • Manual control at the device still works.

Steps I’ve Taken

  1. USB Stick Adjustments:
    • Moved the Z-Wave stick to a USB extension cable and away from interference sources.
    • Rebuilt network routes multiple times after making this adjustment.

2.** Network Healing & Rebuilds:**
• Ran the "Rebuild Network Routes" operation at different stages of the troubleshooting with no changes.

  1. Exclude, Reset, and Reinclude Devices:
    • Followed Zooz’s instructions to:
    ‣ Force-remove devices using Z-Wave JS.
    ‣ Perform a factory reset on switches/dimmers.
    ‣ Attempt to reinclude them.
    • This consistently fails—devices either time out or reappear as "unknown" nodes.

  2. Firmware Updates:
    • Updated the USB stick firmware to 7.18.3 from 7.17.2.
    • All devices on latest firmware.

  3. Manual Testing:
    • Confirmed that manual control at the devices still works.

  4. Other Notes:
    • Sensors in the network remain fully operational, and no new devices have been added recently.
    • The issue started suddenly and has progressively worsened.

What I Need Help With

  • Has anyone experienced a similar issue where switches/dimmers drop from the network while sensors remain unaffected?
  • Any insights on why devices fail to re-add after factory resets?
  • Suggestions on debugging further or specific logs to share for more context?

I’d greatly appreciate any guidance, as I’m out of ideas at this point. Let me know if you need logs or additional information to assist.

Thanks in advance for your help! 🙏
