#All my Matter devices are offline (Failed to advertise records: src/inet/UDPEndPointImplSockets.cpp)

After taking my network offline over the weekend to re-organize the space where I have my router, switches and hubs installed, I no longer have any Matter device accessible in Home Assistant. They do however work in Google Home.

Restarting Home Assistant or the Matter Add-on specifically doesn't make a difference.

From the logs:

2024-11-18 10:24:34.580 (Dummy-2) CHIP_ERROR [chip.native.DIS] Failed to advertise records: src/inet/UDPEndPointImplSockets.cpp:416: OS Error 0x02000065: Network is unreachable
2024-11-18 10:24:34.588 (Dummy-2) CHIP_ERROR [chip.native.DL] Long dispatch time: 191 ms, for event type 2

I also thought it was interesting that it couldn't load any nodes from storage:

2024-11-18 10:24:34.763 (MainThread) INFO [matter_server.server.device_controller] Loaded 0 nodes from stored configuration
2024-11-18 10:24:34.787 (MainThread) INFO [matter_server.server.server] Matter Server successfully initialized.

Any idea on where to start fixing this? To be sure: it's all Matter devices, including ones that don't use Thread.

I think you need to restore a backup. Somehow your entire matter server has been reset. Did you reinstall the integration or something ?

Scrap that – I moved the data drive a few days before the Matter devices never returned online.

Well, your matter server is empty so your devices are gone. You will have to restore the matter server add-on (which contains your matter fabric/data)
