#Will switching to ethernet break everything?

Hey guys, I initially set up my HA instance over wifi as I wanted to keep the old laptop I'm running it on away from my router. However I am having some minor stability issues so I would like to try ethernet to see if this resolves it.

My question is: will switching to ethernet mess with my setup since it has a different IP? I have duck DNS and Let's Encrypt set up. Do I need need to change anything in my settings prior to the switch?

Depends on your network settings. If the WiFi is provided by the same router and you use DHCP it will likely make no difference.

You'd want to update your static lease to assign the same address that you had over WiFi after connecting to ethernet, then things should just work and you shouldn't need to touch any forwarding rules

So you think it should just be plug and play to connect to ethernet?

The ip from your isp shouldn't matter here as we're talking about local ips.

I'd just repeat myself 🙂
