#Front end pages won't load, from local URL only

For the last several days, I can't open many of my UI pages when using homeassistant.local. I can see the basic page framework (top menu, left menu) but when I click on Overview, Media, Map, or Settings tabs, there's an error saying the page won't load.

BUT, if I log in uisng the "external" nabucasa URL, on the same machine, same browser session, same user login.... then all of those pages work just fine.

What's going on and how do I troubleshoot or fix this?

I've already tried:

  • logging out
  • deleting browser cookies
  • restarting HA

Thanks

also just figured out that it works ok, with the local url, in Chrome Incognito Mode.
So I reviewed what chrome extensions I have (nothing is new!), and turned off uBlock and PrivacyBadger just in case, but that didn't fix it.

and I still get the "Not Secure" warning in incognito mode, so I don't think that that's the cause of the problem.
