Hello, im new to HA so im Sorry of this question was already answered here.

I have HA running on my Proxmox Server in the basement of my House - not the ideal Spot for a good coverage of my House. My Plan now is to have Like a Bridge in the Center of my House Test can Support all the protocols Zigbee,Zwave,Matter. Can I have a raspi with the dongles attached, running with something like a HA Bridge?

Yes, but also there's no need

#

You can get network connected Zigbee coordinators

#

Thread border routers are network connected

#

And you can even buy a network connected Z-Wave coordinator (kit) now

#

See the pins in #zigbee for recommended network connected coordinators - and Tube (linked there) sells the Z-Wave kit you need

Thanks for the Tips! So i can just Set up Network connected coordinators and integrated them into HA?
Even if I have devices from different Brands?
Sadly I Cant See the Channel you mentioned

Yes

#

The whole point of ZHA (and Zigbee2MQTT) is that you can use just about every Zigbee device on the planet. Same goes for the Z-Wave implementation.

#

Matter/Thread is a bit more of a moving target, but the supported features will all work

The "dongles" are things you plug into the network

#

Then HA talks to them over your network, much the same as if they were connected locally to a USB port

I understand now I thought the dongles are usb sticks attached to a raspbi and I have to make the rapsi Communicate with the Server

raven yoke
#

No, thankfully no Pi is required here

normal socket
#

Do you own such dongles yourself?

#

How far does the coverage go?

raven yoke
#

Many people have those - my own setup pre-dates those

#

Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread are all mesh networks

#

Range from the coordinator is irrelevant 😉

#

You have a number of router devices that extend the reach

#

In practical terms you can expect maybe 4 to 8 meters between the coordinator and devices, and between routers and devices. Exactly what you get depends on the construction of your house and level of RF interference.

#

You may get 10 to 12 meters, you may not get one

#

And is it Bad to have all 3 of this Technologies in my Home? Will the interfere Each ihrer

#

Zigbee and Thread use the same frequency band as Bluetooth and your 2.4 GHz WiFi. You can get problems if you don't follow the advice pinned in #zigbee-archived

#

Z-Wave uses another frequency altogether, and won't interfere

#

However... you have to build all the meshes out, which is going to cost more than if you pick one or two and just go with those

#

Matter and Thread are still evolving technologies, if you want to work with known good and stable stick with Zigbee and Z-Wave (for now)

Zigbee

#

You really don't want anything that claims to support more than one

#

If you're lucky it'll just be shit

#

If you're unlucky it'll cause you endless problems

#

I would recommend that you start with one tech, and expand later if you need it. That'll be a lot easier for you, and cheaper.

#

Because as i researched zwave has much less devices and brands than zigbee

Zigbee isn't as strict as Zwave which means there tends to be more devices available for cheaper, but you do sometimes end up with weird things that don't quite work how they should—but if you check before you buy you should be ok
