#Entity Not Exposing to Alexa

Is there a way to see logs or troubleshoot an entity that won’t expose to Alexa? I’ve checked both core and supervisors logs but nothing seemed relevant to this issue.

I have a zwave switch that shows up as a switch entity, if you expose the switch it shows up fine. If you change the entity type to light and expose the light it does not show up.

It seems to only be for this specific switch too. I have another switch that’s the same model and firmware and that one works fine.

Okay didn’t think about exposing the hidden switch entity after changing it to a light. That works.

#

The only difference with switch vs light in Alexa that I see now is we use “Alexa turn off all the lights” and the switch entity doesn’t seem to be included

#

Looks like you can also change the device type in Alexa which fixes this.

#

Strange that I need to do this only for this specific switch.

The switch was likely not included properly and its supported features don't translate over to light

#

You may want to reinterview the switch and try again

Following up on this and notice another device that doesn’t seem to be exposing correctly. This time is an ESPhome garage door opener on an ESP32. The common factor here is that both the light and the garage have the “show as” setting set.

Still nothing in logs. I’ve tried resetting cloud data, unexposing all devices and removing/re-adding the home assistant skill.
