The holiday season has cropped up on us. ScreamFluent I know a lot of this community wants to share things they find or get help finding this best deals as the Black Friday deals from the United States start to kick off. This is the place to drop those links!

To get things started, I'll share this article from Tom's Guide on their opinion of the best smart home devices available. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-smart-home-devices,review-2008.html

And if you missed it, the guys at Apollo Automation have a tree board ornament you can buy where 100% of the profit are going to charity! https://apolloautomation.com/products/apollo-h-1-annual-holiday-ornament

Been looking at BT/BTE tags.

Airtags on sale. 4 for $69.99 (17.50 each). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D54JZTHY

There's too many BT tags sales to track on Aliexpress. All $2-5 each, but I have no idea how good they are. https://www.aliexpress.us/w/wholesale-bluetooth-tracker.html?g=y&SearchText=bluetooth+tracker

Kasa smart plugs are recommended by Tom's Guide. Currently at lowest price: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Kasa-Smart-Wifi-Plug/dp/B07RCNB2L3/

Yeah for something basic like bulbs I like them. If it's something I'm not sure I'll like or keep using then cheap is a better option to start imo

Could you please remove the affiliate & tracking links as the original post ask?

I do request that no affiliate links are used -

Basically remove the first question mark and everything after it, then check that the link still works.

I'm also looking for a PoE camera with optical zoom, or dual lenses with a telephoto - if anyone sees a deal pop up. ($200 or less)

This is a solid deal if you need a scale. I absolutely love the first one they came out with, the quality of build is on par.
it's currently on a lightning deal.

i got an instacart offer for 20 off 50. hue lights are on there

vapid delta
#

those dont say hue but wiz & wifi. be aware that would make them not have zigbee and not compatible with hue gear (if you intend to use the hub)

reef phoenix
#

just have some caveats around their IP settings; you have to login and enable DHCP/etc to allow them to reboot onto a new vlan and etc..

reef phoenix

Also applies to their US store.

Looks like WiZ not Hue. Both are by Philips (Signify). WiZ works over Wi-Fi instead of Zigbee.

Here's my review: I have some WiZ "60W" A19 bulbs. They work well. Integration with Home Assistant is smooth and you can control the full RGBWW spectrum.

I don't have Hue to compare. Compared to my Nanoleaf Essentials Matter A19, the WiZ A19 is not as bright (800 lumens max brightness compared to 1,1000 lumens max on Nanoleaf). RGB colors are slightly different (not necessarily better or worse). Nanoleaf Essentials Matter works over Thread, was buggy at first but has gotten much better. Overall I prefer Nanoleaf but WiZ is almost as good and usually cheaper!

Tomorrow Menards, in Wisconsin anyway, has Tuya smart plugs I think WIFI 4 for $8 on a black Friday sale. Sylvania Smart+.
If we can get some they'll be for Christmas lights so I only have to swear at the Tuya cloud for a couple of weeks out of the year..

small crow
#

should be a bannable offense to even mention tuya wifi on this server

strong lichen
#

2 bucks a piece... I can deal with the pain for that price.

limpid shoal

Apparently these are on sale. Super easy to flash ota with Tuya Cloudfutter, has power monitoring too; one day I'll figure out how to calibrate that.... https://a.co/d/b4VUoHK

I own those. I have 8 running Christmas that are rf433 right now and hate them. Don't want to spend much on things that are up for a month a year.
FFS if you don't want them don't buy them, I told you they were $2 apiece Tuya wifi,,, Obviously I know they are crap. I have that shit Tuya running anyway for a garden hose valve and another oddball heated mattress pad So for the Christmas display it would be perfect for me. Maybe others as well.

Any deals on smart rocker switches that don't actually cut power, but instead can send an event to ha to turn off a smart light?

gentle helm

Preferably not Z-Wave if possible, I don't have any usb slots available in my server, and all the not usb z-wave hubs I've found are $30+

reef phoenix
#

with its wall panel button thing.

wary barn
#

What I'm more looking for is something that doesn't cut power to my smart lights, in essence the ZOOZ Zen71, but wifi instead of zwave or zigbee, and no neutral wire requirement

reef phoenix
#

... they don't seem to make the damn wall switch button thing for goddamned USA boxes; thats annoying.

#

you're sort of hilariously limiting yourself with all of those requirements.

Finding something with no neutral wire is gonna be...

wary barn
#

Yeah, I've been looking for a few days for something that could work, but i'm finding nothing. Basically what i need is a glorified button that sits in the switch box and passes through power to the lights. It can't have a neutral wire since the room I'm installing it in doesn't have one, and wifi preferably because I'm yet to buy any hubs and I'm out of usb ports on my server

reef phoenix
#

that sounds like you're gonna be looking for something battery powered to stick next to the switch to be honest.

#

... like philips hue remote is; and thats proprietary or whatever its radio uses which is.. yeah

#

Also puny server if it doesn't have enough usb ports tbh. πŸ˜›

wary barn

Yeah, it's an old Asus vivobook that I slapped 12GB ram and PVE in
