#Less resource intensive Snapcast Alternative?

I have 3 Pi Zero that run Wyoming Satellite and I wanted to add the enhancement for Snapcast to play music but when I call the voice assistant when the snapclient service is running, the response is very laggy and the CPU and RAM max out. Is there an alternative to make this work?

Think there's a way for the device to just be a native HA media player device, haven't tried myself but I think it has been mentioned around here a few times.

I tried several times to bring media player functionality to Wyoming satellite, including Snap, MPD and VLC... All that stuff requires fiddling with Pulse Audio, and it all becomes unusable... Ditched Wyoming satellite.
