Hello guys, i'm new to HA and I want to know what would you choose if you have to make an automatic lightning for a staircase.

I'm using HA for device recognition with mqtt and zigbee2mqtt and node red for the automation. I've got the SONOFF SNZB-03 but there is some issue I think.

When i go in front of the motion sensor, the data is sent to my mqtt 1 or 2 minutes after the passage ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Sonoff's sensors aren't great

#

mmWave would be good - Apollo Automation do some

#

Otherwise 3Reality or Aqara

Aqara needs a hub no ?

No

Clearly you've never looked at Z2M's supported devices page ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay i ll see what will be the best ๐Ÿ™‚

But I think all of them cannot send the information directly, there is a timer on

Well, yes but no, but that's why I suggested mmWave

#

All PIR sensors have a blind time

#

That means they stop looking for X seconds after they detected motion

In my case The led in the stair case will light on if the door is opened, when the door is closec, i start a timer of 30s and the light will go off.
In the other case, when i go down my stair, i need a motion sensor that will enable the light for 30s

The Aqara P1 can be tuned a lot lower than one min

#

That means that i don't really care if they "go off" for X minutes

The Apollo mmWave sensors will report where people are

#

Stick one at the top or bottom and you can track people up and down the stairs

The Apollo mmWave sensors will report where people are

This only applies to the MTR-1. The MSR-2 only reports people in one of 3 zones (proximity to the sensor). The MTR-1 allows for configured zones and will track up to three targets in three zones.

Left is the MSR-2, right is the MSR-1

Can you tune the zone distances?

Yeah

Perfect - beyond stairs, on stairs past stairs

So I think in my case the aqara p1 should do the job ๐Ÿ™‚

I ll keep you updated guys ๐Ÿ™‚

you don't need human presence detector for your use case. A combo motion sensor and contact closure (to measure door open/close) would do the trick. Check out SensorNode - it's designed for exactly that and it will not burn through batteries - https://tnbtechnologies.com/sensornode
