#Nabu Casa Stability Issues

Hi,
Over the last few days I have noticed my IOS Noifcations taking longer to come through when they have always been pretty instant.

The biggest issue is that when I am in the UI it says I have disconnected from my server, then about 5-10 seconds later it comes back again.
During the downtime I am able to check my server on DuckDNS and its online.
This happens on my phone and my latop so I think its NabuCasa?

My logs show something that it might be:

One of these looks like a configuration issue for an integration. dyson cloud? If you're not using that you could remove it.

#

HA maintains the connection for the remote access, so instability there can result in instability for the Home Assistant Cloud connection.

The companion app partially maintains the connection to HA. I'm not sure if the error indicates an issue with the iOS app and the websocket, or if that's on the HA side. It might be good to share that one in #ios-mac "Disconnected: Received non-Text message." sounds like it is rejected by the server

weary jasper
#

As this has only started happening in the last week or so what could cause it?

#

I've deleted Dyson Cloud as it was disabled anyway

#

It seems like a lot of my cloud based integratons are struggling with Nabu:

As mentioned;
During the NabuCasa down times DuckDNS works and so does my local IP so it’s just NC that disconnects/timesout/stops responding

What are your external and internal URLs set as?

#

As you have both duckdns and Nabu Casa going on here

#

you need advanced mode enabled for the user, then Settings > System > Network page

#

You'll see Internet URL and Local network URL

#

I assume the internet url is set as the Nabu Casa URL based on the above

I've changed it to http:// but it's not helping my Nabu disconnection issue

#

Did you restart after the change? You'll need to check HA logs for more info.

Btw, the new section looks like this in the latest release of HA:

#

In this new version you can use the icons to reveal the currently used URLs. In the old one, there isn't really a way to know.

I just updated to the latest 11.1 and now it looks like this:

#

I type in:

#

I press save then it goes back to this:

#

this is my config:

#

If you are using DuckDNS then you don't have the choice to enter a non https url there for local

weary jasper
#

Fair enough - but going back to my original issue: why is nabu performance lacking

weary jasper
#

If I remove NabuCase URL and replace it with duckdns I get notifcations instantly - when I put nabu back there is a 10 second delay. As mentioned in my previous post this has only start happening in the last few weeks. I thought it may have been my phone but now I have tested it with DuckDNS I can see that the issue lies with Nabu. Is there a way to reset Nabu?

Hi, I have the exact same issue with my Android app from remote through Nabu Casa (but also with Chrome/Macbook from a different wifi connection). Disconnect from UI after a few seconds, then I need to restart the app or reload the browser. When on local wifi, everythings works flawless.

I also find the 10 second disconnect in my logs. Any ideas?

weary jasper
#

No change here sadly - still having this issue

frozen whale

@weary jasper Maybe it helps to find common components, I'll give it a try:

  • HASS running on VM in a QNAP system
  • wired connection to fritzbox mesh, static local IP
  • ISP connection through 4g Vodafone but reliable
  • Nabu casa subscription active
  • no DNS, bare Nabu casa URL
  • issue persists for any outside connection
  • flawless from local wifi
  • few add ons (z2m, esphome, to do list, hue, sonos,...)

Any ideas?

It seems that my fix was temporary and I am back to facing issues. I do have Frigate camera streams on my dashboard, as well. I show them with an image card.

weary jasper
#

me too - do you have duckdns? iit would be interesting to see if your connection stays connected through that and itts justt Nabu that times out

frozen whale
#

No I don't. I have had no more lost connections since yesterday evening, when I did that:

  • Update all camera firmware (Reolink)
  • In the image card configurations, I changed the option "camera view" from live to auto (for all 4 image cards that I have). The system instantly felt way more snappy and responsive. I believe this may have been the culprit, but I am cautious.

Do you have live view enabled?

weary jasper
#
    show_name: false
    camera_view: live
    type: picture-entity
    entity: camera.balcony_camera
    aspect_ratio: "16:12"```
#

I have live on but i doesnt make sense that it works with duckdns but fails with Nabu

frozen whale
#

Sorry I have no idea about duckdns, just that it failed with NC.

errant stag
#

Nabu Casa is end to end encrypted and a throughput limit of of 6mbps so not ideal for camera streams. This is why the webrtc was a nice addition because it works around that.

Just googled it and changed it - I'll monitor it

frozen whale

Through go2rtc within Frigate, right? I haven't set that up yet but no more disconnects since auto view.
