Hi all, I have some white only LED strips installed in my shelf with the following controller/attachments (please see photos). They are currently controlled with a small round button remote. I'd like to connect these strips to HA. The strips cannot be replaced but the controller/remote can of course be - happy to purchase anything required for this retrofit. I looked at getting some WLED ESP32 controllers eg Quinled but the attachment looks completely different. Open to any ideas this amazing forum might have. Many thanks!
#Converting Dumb LED Strip to Smart

Apparently Gledopto controllers are really good.
Thanks for the comment. They use the 'traditional' 3 coloured wire connection to the LED strip right? It doesnt feel like the above pictures have that setup so unsure how I'd connect the controller to this strip?
Yes they do. I'm not sure but I would cut the cable for the led strip and look how many cables are inside.
alternatively, why don't you but a switch or smart plug in front of the led strip power source?
If turning on and off is all you want, you could put a smart plug or something like this between the power souce:
I have similar leds, but they are "stupid" still 😛
Thanks for the ideas! Aha my strip is basically the same. I thought about the smart plug/relay idea but because there is a remote I thought the relay switch would not work?
Well, mine doesn't have a remote. But it has a touch sensor that uses haptic feedback. Its installed inside of the cupboard and when I touch the wood outside it toggles.
But what happens if you put your led strip on, and you disconnect the power plug and plug back in?
Do the leds go on?
If yes, you can use relais/smart plug.
If not, one of these three boxes communicate with the remote
See which one, and if you can remove it.
So unfortunately the strip is wired directly into the wall. I dont have access to the power
I will try and see which box communicates with the remote and revert
Thank you for the ideas so far!
Why have you not smartened your strips!?
No power socket/plug, correct. When installing they took power wires from some other stocket and connected it to the strip directly
You can see it in the image actually, its the black cable with the red tape at the back coming out the wall
Ok so turn on led strips, go to electricity breaker box, turn off breaker (electricity goes out) turn back on, are the strips on?
Yea
Good idea, will try thanks!
Not at home at the moment, will try in the evening
