I am deciding if i shoul.d get the Connect ZBT-1 / SkyConnect as I have just begun my HA setup with smartwings blinds that run on Matter over Thread.

I see in the HA docs that this thing can be used to turn HA into a thread border router, and since I don't have any devices that can do that, I can't use my smart blinds besides with the remote yet.

However, although the docs give explanations on how to do so, ameriDroid says in the product description "Home Assistant will soon add Thread support; allowing your Home Assistnat ZBT-1 to be used to connect to Thread-based Matter devices."

and the CloudFree product description also says "Thread support will be added in the future via a firmware update"

I just want to make sure these are outdated bits of information right? I don't want to buy this thing and find out the software isn't ready yet to turn HA into a thread border router and have to end up doing something else.

thank you

One thing - if you're not running HAOS, then setting up home assistant as a thread border router will be very difficult. HAOS has all the required networking set up for you, and the required pieces are available as easy to use add-ons.
