Hello
I'm building my first smart home, and i'm still having confusions on the different protocols.
I'm sure to use HA as my main monitoring system.
Right now i only have plugs with matter, over wifi it seems from the box, at least i've no other indications.
Like the meross mss315.
I Bought the Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 key, and flashed it with threads for now, but it's reversible so w/e.

I was thinking of going with matter over thread, but the presence sensor i'm thinking about being the aqara fp1e, which is over zigbee.

So from them being wifi, I'm assuming it will still works with the Zigbee things ?
I'm pretty sure i'm right but i'd like to hear some confirmations from experienced users

So basically, yeah everything works fine

#

Except for the part with the FP1E

#

Since i'm using an iphone, IT REQUIRES a hub

#

On android from what I saw it doesnt

WiFi and Zigbee are completely different things

#

Something that uses WiFi won't "work with" the Zigbee thing, but nothing has to

#

HA is at the heart of it all. Everything talks to HA. HA talks to everything. Nothing knows about anything else, and that's fine

What I will say is that you should avoid Zigbee (and Thread) for mmWave sensors, and any enviromnental sensors that are chatty (like Tuya sensors that report every second). Those are both low bandwidth networks, and can be killed by overly chatty devices.

FP1e works with Zigbee2MQTT, and probably ZHA
