I would be happy if there was a built-in barcode scanner in the app. This would allow me to implement exciting automations with end products. However, this function should be very quick to access and not hidden in several sub-items in the menu. It would be great if it even had its own scanner app that you could start quickly.

Why not scan qr codes with any qr app.

I want to use a Barcode (no QR Code). It would be possible to scan with a barcode scanner app and then share with the Home Assitant app. However, I would then need a barcode scanner app that I can set to share automatically. So: Scan, share with the Home Assistant app and continue scanning.
Unfortunately I didn't find such an app. So I need a new feature.

You could use shortcuts on iOS for this. But at the end of the day a barcode is just a number or string of text, so at best it could fire an event with that number or string?

What is the advantage of a barcode over a QR Code that has the URL handler built in?

the companion apps already accept shared requests, and there appear to be some barcode scanners in teh play store that let you share teh scan results which should be able to be shared to the server
