#I can no longer pair thread devices to HA yellow

I have several thread devices paired to home assistant using the HA yellow thread router as the preferred network. I have installed 5 apple tv+/home pod minis since and have also successfully added new thread devices after installing the additional apple thread border routers.

However, I have an eve door sensor (I have no indication the problem is with the door sensor and, in fact, I had previously paired another eve door sensor to thread in HA successfully) and every time I try to pair it to HA, I get a notification that is show in a screen shot below : "Failed to save thread network credential, error: Can not store frozen credentials. Failed to save thread network credentials

From what I have learned researching this issue, this sounds like an issue with HA passing it's preferred network credentials over to Apple's keychain (???). I'm not sure why I would need to do that since the apple thread border routers have not been set up in Apple home other than tv an siri devices. (and that happened auto-'magically')

End result, pairing this eve device always fails. See screenshots below.

  1. Questions: Should I set the apple thread border router (pick one I guess) as the preferred network? I haven't done that because I felt (intuitively anyway) that keeping everything in HA was the smart option.
  2. How can I proceed ?
  3. Using iOS 18.0.1

Thanks.

Hello all. Ive been away for a bit on travel. I just wanted to follow up on this issue. It's still a problem for me and I am unable to pair this door sensor (mentioned above) or a new set of matter over thread blinds to HA. yesterday, I did pair the eve door sensor to homekit and HA sees the door sensor now. The problem is I always get this error about failing to save thread network credentials. Can anyone offer a solution?

Oof, I seem to have this exact error, disappointing that there's been no updates on this. 🙁

I too also have this error @mossy summit were you ever able to get it fixed? I have two 2 eero thread border routers and one apple homepod. To be fair, this started after the apple homepod was installed and I was attempting to add (a few weeks later) and eve light switch. I had to add it through apple home and then intergrate it into home assistant. I won't be able to do this for every device in the future Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

I actually just fixed this issue. My Wife and I both are on the apple home/homepod from our two separate apple accounts. It was my iPhone that was having the thread credentialing/frozen credentials issue because the homekit and homepod were originally made with her account (I did this because she is stay at home so she would defintely be using it more while im at work). Once I tried it on her phone or her iPad using Home Assistant, it worked fine.
