#ZigBee for Raspberry

Depends on the software but my general recommendation would be the SLZB-06.
Probably SLZB-07 now. It's just better.
That's not ethernet based and the CC chips seem to still work better. At least aith Z2M. See Which Zigbee chip should I choose? here: https://smlight.tech/
It shows both chips as tied for first place. You're correct that it's not Ethernet based, but that wasn't one of the requested criteria.
No but you said it's better than the 06 and I consider 07's lack of ethernet a negative :>
The SLZB-06M(g24) has ethernet though.
Ha, fair enough. I meant in terms of raw performance.
What about something available on main stream market like SONOFF brand or the Raspbee II or something cheaper?
Sonoff E is ok, not great
GPIO hats are a bad idea - see the pinned video in #zigbee-archived
Curious if you could expand on this (purely from a Zigbee perspective, ethernet etc notwithstanding)
I love my SLZB-06, worth every last penny and extremely cheap to start with
If the chip is the same the stick will perform the same
There are these cheap EFR32MG1 based ZB-GW04 sticks but I have doubts they perform as well as a model E or SLZB-06M.
Yeah, my comment was more about the two SMLight models
Updated chip, should have minorly improved LQI in equal circumstances. Not enough to justify an upgrade, but it -should- be a minor improvement with no drawbacks.
Appreciate the reply. For me it was not wanting to have to pair my dozens of devices so I went right from Sonoff CC2652P to the SLZB-06 to save the grief ๐
I'm waiting for my SLZB-07 to arrive. Currently using a HUSBZB-1 combo dongle but decided to switch.
What's bad about sonoff E that "it's not great"? I use it for my 6 Ikea smart bulbs and it works great. Am I missing on some features provided by alternative products? Afaik, sonoff E can even do Matter after a firmware upgrade.
Sonoff... that's the bad ๐
Almost all their Zigbee kit has had problems in one way or another
The E is the only stick with no known faults. Many of their end devices fall off the mesh, and don't get me started on their routers...
Yeah the router/coordinator stick has been great for me. I've used their motion sensors and they just randomly vanish from my network, tossed them in my IoT junk drawer
I was actually looking to buy some more sonoff ZigBee smart devices as they are quite affordable. But now I might need to reconsider my choices. What brands can you suggest?
@jaunty zinc
Not Hue and Aquara? But my favorite channel "everything smart home" says those are good ๐
You misread. The second line is the yes line.
