Super excited to see a private voice assistant designed specifically for Home Assistant 🚀😱🎉

Yes a private Voice Assistant for HA, but also, don't forget -

  1. Has multi-sensors onboard (temp/hum/lux/mmWave)
  2. Plus a powerful speaker amplifier so you can really jam some music.
  3. Plus XMOS microphone audio processing
  4. Plus ability to expand to other devices due to GPIO being exposed
  5. Plus works with Rpi (if you want to build a Wyoming Satellite)
  6. Plus should support bluetooth room presence detection (software is TBD)

I'll stop.. But yea, this thing is designed to check a bunch of boxes. ✅ ✅ 😄

@pallid kernel yes, this use the HA voice pipeline, but is talking to our own local AI model on the backend.

Our initial batch will be US only (this is due to Shopify and shipping carriers being extremely expensive). After we get our sales volume up we will be able to go global due to volume discounts from Shopify & carriers. I've spent a ton of time trying to avoid this problem to no avail. @shell dew

I just watched the launch video, it’s amazing! I really like the ceiling approach. Are there any plans for an on-ceiling mount? I’m based in Germany and have a lot of concrete ceilings, so I can’t install it directly into the ceiling.

@abstract hinge thanks for the answer, but I meant "on"-ceiling. Not all ceilings in my house are hollow, so in some places the whole device has to be mounted on top of the concrete surface

Ah, yes. We’ve been thinking about a mounting system that enables the Sat1 to “hang” from a ceiling (similar to a smoke alarm for example).

Amazing. If it would allow 230V input also, it could then be used in every home on normal light outlets in europe.

Exactly right. There is some risk to doing this however and we’ll need to navigate carefully. There are laws related to mains connected devices and we must consider worst case scenarios. This type of red tape I respect and it’s why we don’t see a ton of devices like this.

I can understand that. There sure are some possibly expensive certifications. But if you ever get around to that point, it will be giant step towards retro fit ceiling mounted smart assistants. Appreciate your work! 🙂

Can’t wait to see some reviews! I would love to give it a test myself - I’ve been trying to get a decent output from the M5 Atom Echo by piping it through an amp but it’ll never be “good”. Hopefully they will be available in Europe soon!

Unfortunately since brexit the UK is no longer part of the EU and not a part of the European economic area which complicates things for a UK-based shop like Everything Smart Home.

I've got some capital and could become a distributor for you guys to support the mission but we'd need to pump these out quicker and beat folks to market. a fear of mine with this batch shipping delay approach reminds me of my trauma with purchasing helium miners that became quickly suboptimal to run by the time I received them
