You don’t provide a lot of info but here is a plan.
Try to follow it and tell us if you struggle in some places

  • integrate your WiFi plug. Make sure you can turn it on and off easily.
  • install the companion app of home assistant in your pixel. Configure the app so that it sends back the “battery sensors” to home assistant
  • plug your pixel to your charger and the charger to the WiFi plug
  • automate on that..

you can start very easily. 2 automations

  • When battery goes below 65% turn on plug
  • When battery goes above 75% turn off plug.

There are more robust ways to do the automation part but that would be a very good start.

When battery goes below 65% turn on plug
When battery goes above 75% turn off plug.
This is what I do for charging dashboard tablets except they're in one automation with trigger_ids.

Detecting motion turns on the screen while motion cleared has a 5-minute For: and then the screen is turned off.

thanks for the suggestions ! I will play with the automations and get back to this shortly

#

should I maybe keep the screen on while charging?

via developer options?

ok so I hate to be the guy but don't bother, my pixel at least learns your sleeping routine and will charge slowly to around 80 percent and then to 100 right before you get up
