Hi! So I started out with some Hue lights in lamps around my house. Currently the only way to turn them on and off is with our phones and my wife hates this. We are also looking at getting a bunch of Zwave smart switches to control the dumb bulbs in the house. What is the best way to control both sets of lights without having to use our phones. Hue remotes? Or is there a better way?

Remotes… voice control… automations… motion sensors… lol There are a LOT of ways.
Fair enough. Follow up questions. I know the polling rate for hue bulbs is limited to 1 per second so I was thinking about adding a zigbee dongle to my zwave hub (rpi) and getting it all moved over to Zigbee2MqTT. Will this help increase speed from HA automations (i notce a huge delay using HA automatiok to set the controls on the remote vs doing it in Hue) and can I set the color and all that through HA still without the Hue Hub? Also can I control zigbee lights with zwave switches through HA?
The answer to all your questions is yes 🙂
Basically, the only thing you can't do with HA is use the Hue Entertainment API. Everything else works (with a couple of caveats here and there: Scenes and transitioning are different in HA). But aside from that, all yes.
Thank you so much for addressing my concerns! I am gonna get that dongle ordered so I can have this properly set up. Do you know of a good tutorial/wiki on how to cycle through different HA scenes with a remote?
Not really a tutorial per se, but there are LOTS of posts about it up on the forums. When I get off work, I can work up a solution.
