#Recommend a zigbee leak sensor

I loved the Samsung leak sensors and they worked great. But they are no longer sold. So I had been buying the CentraLite leak sensors which I read were the same underlying technology as the Samsungs. However these things drop off my network near constantly and refuse to rejoin without a factory reset. My Samsungs work flawlessly for years, the CentraLite on stay on my network for a couple weeks before I see red dots on my network graph. Anyone have a device that works well?

Recommendations largely depend on where you are in the world.

In the US, both the Aqara and the ThirdReality leak sensors are solid choices (I have both). The Ikea ones I had pretty terrible results with.

US. Thanks. I've always heard Aqara sensors are flaky because they didn't implement Zigbee correctly or something like that. Is that not the case for HA?

It is. The older, Zigbee1.2 devices can be picky about what they connect to. In my setup (50+ Aqara sensors), the ThirdReality plugs are perfect routers for them.

#

The newer zigbee3.0 sensors (if you can find them) are much better but also way more expensive.

thanks. I'll probably just use the thirdreality to play it safe

Yup. It’s a good sensor. Mine survived being in a flooded basement 4 times now. Let them dry out and they magically come back to life.

ouch luckily I've never had to put my leak sensors to a real test

The last hurricane was the major test here. Fortunately nothing died except a couple of outdoor lights.

#

And I did have one fish tank explode. That was fun too.

crazy. I'm in the northeast so it's more about being cautious in case pipes ever freeze, not so much weather

I’m in NC. We get all the fun weather types.

ah yeah I can imagine. PA, just snow. Blizzards are probably the least destructive natural disaster

I have a mix of Aqara and Centralite. Both work great

I have some of the tuya puck looking ones, and they work well and are zigbee spec compliant vs tuya normal stuff.

Centralite has been nothing but trouble for me. They just go off line. Replacing the battery does nothing. It doesn't even show the lights when I put new batteries in

what do you have for routers?

chances are... they are the issue
