Are there any premade voice assistant devices (echo, dot, whatever) that can be used 100% offline through HA? I always just assumed that would be an automatic no. If not, what's the best route? Something custom?

Any ha voice assistant can run offline

I'm referring specifically to a device elsewhere in the house, most likely connected over wifi, which can take voice commands and relay them to HA.

I have piper/whisper/openwakeword installed and I use the HA voice assistant on my phone, but I'm looking to provide an equipment solution for other household members.

If your wifi does not goes down if the internet goes down. E.g. local dns.

You can use a echo voice assistant if your offline

#

Oh nm atom uses local lookup does not even need dns

By 100% offline I'm saying "without the device communicating with any internet-based servers", rather than worrying about my own connection uptime. My understanding has been that all premade devices like that want to phone home to Google, Amazon, Microsoft, or whoever else may produce one.

Home assistant voice assistant works offline. Period

#

Unless you use the nabu cloud solution. But then you can make a automation to switch to local agents if offline

#

My system works like a charm if im offline

Home assistant is a privacy first solution. Your data is safe only telemetry like what integrations you are using are sent if you opt in the option.

AFAIK, there is nothing for sale that's pre-built yet. However, building your own ESP32-S3 box is fairly simple. If you poke around the archived #voice-assistants-archived channel, there are lots of links and tutorials posted for how to build one.

Hi @restive escarp,
There are ESPHome solutions available, (https://esphome.io/projects/) and rumor is that HA is working on a project along this line. They have hinted soon but I don't know anything more. I suggest keeping your eyes open over the next month or so because If I were them, I would want it released and delivered before Christmas.
