#Need to Replace Hard Drive - Best Way?

Hello,
The hard drive I'm currently using is not nearly large enough (512GB) with Scrypted doing its work. I'd like to replace the drive with something larger. What's the best way to do so? My main goals are to preserve my apps and configuration with minimal down time. Home assistanct is installed on bare metal on a NUC like device. I have a few different addons:

  • HACS
    -- Meross
    -- Tesla
    -- Ford
    -- Scrypted

  • Add-Ons
    -- SSH
    -- Cloudflare
    -- Matter Server
    -- Scrypted
    -- Mosuito

I'm unclear on what degree of 'completeness' a full backup and restore would do (e.g. does it reinstall apps if needed, or only try to apply configs to installed apps) etc.

Thanks for any advice!

The fastest is probably a toss up between:

  1. image disk to new disk, swap disks, cross fingers
  2. fresh install on the new disk, restore a backup, wait

Do I need to make sure all apps are reinstalled, and then restore from backup? Does the backup include configuration data from HACS installed addons?

No, the backup has everything and the restore installs anything needed
