Hi all. I am looking some hardware switches which are, first compatible with HA and also must work on 220v electricity line. I live in India and here operating voltage is 220v/240v on 50/60hz.
I have done exhaustive search of what are available options but I only found some smart light and fan controllers which can work on 220v/240v and I don't think they are compatible with HA. One company that made these is HomeMate and there are few more but same with them also because they look like rebranded stuff.
Another one I found is light on/off switch on Tapo of TP-Link. This I think is compatible with HA but they are only on/off type, no dimming and there aren't any fan control switches over there.
So any suggestions will be really helpful. Thank you.

Hey @pliant ibex , any developments since then? On the same boat as you.
Hey. I kept on doing further searching and found few more things:
- The homemate and wipro switches which are widely available are based on Tuya. You need to get a local key from individual device and then set it up on local tuya integration on HA to run the devices locally. Problem is getting the local key is too difficult. So you can use general tuya integration which uses tuya server to directs your commands to devices. Problem is if your internet is out, you won't be able to control them. So I'm still trying to find a way to get local key from devices.
- There is a company name Aqara which sells their products in India. It is a premium brand and also bcoz of taxes, these are quite costly but solves all problem since they work on zigbee and matter. So you can easily integrate them with HA with a zigbee dongle or you can buy their hub, connect all devices to hub and then connect hub to HA. The only downside is cost. Very costly.
@short beacon fyi
Disappointed by the lack of matter supported devices.
Nevertheless I would be going with the first option. Do you know other brands which may work in the same way?
people. what did you guys end up choosing for local automation? also, do masonry brick with several floor worth of house impede the connection stability?
Found the msg.
For now getting local tuya keys are now impossible since they changed the way people were using it. For now I don't see any new way to get local key so if you are going to use any tuya based device, you are stuck with tuya server integration which means your data being routed via tuya server.
masonry brick - yes it will interfere. Solution, buy some zigbee/matter based plugin hubs which can connect in 3 pins and make a mesh network through which your devices can route their packets automatically. But for that, you should have all zigbee/matter based devices.
Just checked wipro devices are also tuya based. Actually all these plugs, bulbs etc are made in same factory in India just diff brand name.
No I just wanted to pick your brains about this.
Given the low availability and high cost of zigbee devices and the lack of easy channels to buy.
Are you guys doing WiFi based smart switches? Is WiFi actually such a big problem? Given unlimited data usages these days and retrofit switches that integrate with general switches and would work even when internet is down?
