Hello! I’ve just installed a HS220 Smart Dimmer from TP-Link, however, after turning on my breaker the switch doesn’t seem to turn on to start the setup. I have a wire that’s daisy chained between the 2 existing switches I have in my 2-gang box. I assumed that it was the line wire but I could be wrong.

For some reason the switch doesn’t start the setup, I have a HS200 in another room which is slightly easier to install and it works fine. Any tips on how to debug this?

I would check the line and the neutral.

(I haven’t used those switches). Double check the wiring diagram too.

I’ll redo the wiring again to make sure I didn’t miss anything but the neutral wires seemed pretty clear since they were all grouped together under a wire nut and they were white. The rest were wires for my lights and ceiling fans. The ground seems to be wired to the metal box itself so I did the same for the new switch

Would swapping the line and load damage the dimmer or the lights?

I haven’t seen it damage the switch, I’ve seen it not work if switched. Obviously standard warning to hire an electrician if you don’t know what you’re doing.

A multimeter is useful for things like this.

A swap was enough to get everything working. Thanks folks!
