#HAS keeps crashing

Hello,

I was wondering why my HAS keeps crashing.
I think it is because a lot of stuff is going on in my Home Assistant. But I have it on a mini PC which has enough power. For example. If I switch to fast from page to page or make multiple fast inputs it tells me. Connection lost.. Trying to reconnect.
What could it be? Is it really a hardware problem?

Are you using Alexa Media Player?

By the way. I also use frigate to have 12 cameras running. But have the coral stick as well 🤔

Remove it

dusk hull

Frigate or Alexa?

keen quarry
#

Alexa

#

AMP is known to crash HA 2024.10

dusk hull
#

And frigate?

keen quarry
#

That's fine

dusk hull
#

Okay I deleted it and try it out :)

#

Tbh. At the moment I thought about frigate I deactivated the addon. Now it runs smoother

#

Woundering why

proper hamlet
#

i'm getting exactly same issue

#

i noticed it after a AMP update

#

which i assumed would fix it?

cursive raven
#

The last update of AMP caused a memory leak

proper hamlet
#

HA runs for like 5 minutes then gives an out of memory error

#

sounds like the problem

#

just another reason to get rid of alexa imo. hope the fix comes quick because i still use her speakers lol

#

why does ha not just make an official integration already

cursive raven
#

Some developers are working on it and the goal is to get it into HA directly. But its quite a challenge, because the underlying Python library has to be written from scratch. Those devs do this in their free time, so there are no promises.

proper hamlet
#

i understand that but i also contribute monthly via nabu casa to those developers and one of the biggest things for me was to use alexas speakers with ha without doing the aggravating work around which seems i'm going to be doing now i guess

That subscription supports the development and maintainance of the HA core functionality. Integrations are often made by volunteers, who aren't paid at all. The subscription is no entitlement for a requested new integration.

I'ts not that i feel entitled, but upon choosing which way i wanted to go, it was a selling point in nabu casa was it not?

keen quarry
#

At no point has it ever even been hinted that paying for a sub gets any influence over development work

cursive raven
#

Nabu Casa offers the Alexa skill (which works).

#

Meaning: forwarding of entities to Alexa.

#

The media player part is not promised.

(and never has been)

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but i'm just frustrated and i know i'm coming across as an ass lol

keen quarry
#

I get the frustration, but it's directed at the wrong people

cursive raven
#

No worries. We totally understand your frustration (and some might also share it).

keen quarry
#

The problem is AMP development, and the library it uses - get frustrated at that, and ... maybe try to help?

#

The more people that can code and help the more things get fixed

proper hamlet
#

Coding was never my strength but, i have some spare sonos ones laying around i can use until it gets worked out. I apologize again about venting and i get it, shit breaks lol.

Note the lack of an extra er

proper hamlet
#

lol my bad

Interesting..Uninstalled AMP and have been watching cpu temp and ram..it's running cooler then it ever has. i wonder if AMP has been leaking memory for a long time.
