#(fixed) HA Assistant as default Assistant not working after WearOS 5 update

I upgraded to the Galaxy Watch 7 and installed HA exactly the same to the watch, but it's not working as the default Assistant anymore

#

It lets me set it as the default assistant for WearOS

#

but then, when I try to set it as the long press assistant button, it doesn't show up at all. In WearOS 4 (Watch 4) it let me set it. Not WearOS 5.

#

this feature in HA seems to break in WearOS 5 (at least for me)

what do you mean break?

#

its intended to remove teh availability of it

in WearOS 4 it shows up in that list

#

availablility seems permanantly removed no matter what toggle position the setting is

#

there is no way to get it into that list, as far as i can tell

i dont hitnk pixel watch has that feature, it could just be someting that samsung chagned in wear OS 5 that the app needs to adapt to

#

please file a bug on github

Wow I got it to work.
All I did was uninstall Google Assistant (which restores the stock version).
Then, when I long pressed the button, Google Assistant didn't open, but rather a menu asking which assistant I wanted to launch, with a "Always" button.
The "press and hold" app in WearOS settings is still "Assistant" with the google assistant logo. Yet it launches HA Assist now.
So...I am good now. Very bizarre fix. But hopefully this thread helps anyone else searching for this issue.
