Hi, I am new to the Thread world and the site mentions energy monitoring through Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings but not through Google Home. I understand it as the Google Home app does not support it right now, is that correct? Can I get the energy monitoring through HA if I use the Google TV streamer as border router? If the google nest streamer plays nicely, yes. you can get eve energy stats into home assistant

I have not read much yet about Thread, but I guess a border router just passes on packets onto the right wireless network? Will need to study it a bit 🙂 Just would like some kind of confirmation before spending money on it. Was wondering if the border router needs to interpret the info beyond packet addressing, but I guess not since it is "just" an IPv6 network.

Basically yes, as long as your google thread network (will be made when you set the device up) is the primary network on home assistant, it should work no issue
