If I have a smart switch that needs a neutral wire, can I use that switch with only connecting the neutral wire, switch 1 and switch 2 wire without the line and load wires? I want to power the switch, but use it only as a "wireless switch" (I want to choose in Home Assistant which light it should control, when the light isn't connected to a light switch physically, instead has an ESP32 with WLED behind it.

Or if there is a better suited product than a smart switch wall module, let me know please.

Hi @daring lava,
No, short answer .
it should be switching the hot side and needs a ground so it can internally be powered.

That type needs line and neutral, don't need to have a load.

So if I connect a line, neutral and switch 1, switch 2 wires, it would work?

#

Thats something I thought about, like only connecting the neutral wouldn't close the circuit, so you would need the line and the neutral

#

Am I correct?

Also, do you have any idea, if there is a way to connect smart wall module switches into a stairway cirucit? (two switches controlling one light from the bottom and the top)

I had a dumb switch running one light, box had neutral. I am adding a 3 button switch, switch one will use the hardware control of that light, the other 2 switches will run other smart lights in the area (VIA HA). Doing a video about it, actually, but won't get back to the property for a month or so to finish it.
