#Installing smart switches yourself (UK)

Hello I'm not sure if it's OK to ask this here, but basically I am wanting to have smart light switches installed, have done all my research but am struggling to find electricians to quote for physically installing them for me. Either they don't reply or they are prohibitively expensive. A friend said to me "why don't you do it yourself" and honestly the thought never crossed my mind. But having watched some videos online I think think I'll be OK. I can turn the power off at the box first. However I would love to just sanity check what I think I need to do with someone who knows what they're doing.

I think I will start with my Candeo C202 as they don't require neutral wire I can leave those capped off in the box. I am just a bit confused which wire goes into where.

Here is a picture of the inside of my light switch: https://i.ibb.co/LJVdZfT/image.png
Here is the manufacturer's document of how I need to connect it: https://i.ibb.co/NF3zGCX/image.png

I think the single brown wire going into "L1" is my "live" wire, and I believe this needs to go into the rightmost terminal labelled "L" on the smart dimmer. The double brown wire going into "COM" I believe is my "switched live", and I believe this needs to go into the leftmost terminal labelled with a squiggly line with an arrow through it on the smart dimmer.

Could somebody please sanity check my understanding is correct before I (carefully) undertake this task?

Thanks in advance!

I can't really provide specifics because I'm in North America (Canada), but I just recently installed 8 Leviton Decora Smart swithes (replaced some dumb switches), after reading the instructions from the vendor and also watching their YouTube Videos. I bought some tools such as a non-contact voltage tester (only to test if if there is power or not before I handled the wires, even after the breaker is off), and of coure some wire cutters and splicers and how to use marrete. So far, everything is working is no fires or smoke 🙂

have you tried contacting the manufacturer?

In the UK COM is normally the live wire and L1 is the switched live that goes to the light

So in your case the two wires on COM got to the L on the new switch and the single wire in L1 goes into the squiggly line one
