#Good radiator thermostat heads for HA?

Hey all, I've tested quite a few thermostat heads in the last few days, and I must say I'm not impressed. Most barely have the minimum functionality to do the business. So I thought I'd engage the swarm intelligence and ask what everybody else is using.

So far I've tested:

  • Danfoss: Total no-show
  • Moer: basic functionality, programmable at the device, but very wonky control entities that are all just named "Switch" in HA
  • Sonoff: basic functionality, but very limited feature set without dedicated hub
  • Equiva Bluetooth: BLE, gets discovered but just disconnects and never shows back up
  • AVM: Lots of features, but dependent on the AVM ecosystem (which I happen to have), very slow reaction
  • Aqara: basic functionality available, but badly documented and behaves strangely.

If anyone has any that I haven't listed here, I'd be grateful if you could share your experiences.

"Sonoff: basic functionality, but very limited feature set without dedicated hub"

What are you looking for, that you do not consider to be part of the "basic" functionality?

The "basic functionality" I was talking about is pretty much exposing a thermostat entity. That is arguably enough for basic operations. What I'm looking for is extended controls like switching between comfort and eco temperature, setting the set points, read and influence window open detection, set holiday mode and such stuff. In essence, the more control over and insight into the device I have, the better.

But it's a bit of a moot point, since when nobody seemed to have any input, I went with the AVM ones, which I happen to have the infrastructure for, and which were head and shoulders above any using more generic integrations anyways.

I’m coming from fully HomeKit before HA and had there Eve that was initially HK only, but since Matter is there they are moving their products to Matter. Including their Valves:
