More than one entity domain export the same data type, for example, to get a numeric value you could have a sensor, input_number, or number.
Is there a way to just specific of type numeric?
Same goes for boolean. A switch and an input_boolean and a binary_sensor all export boolean types.

When you are setting a selector for a number, there is only number.
You are asking however about selecting an entity (or device). Both of these have a filter for integration, which is the (sensor), (input_number), (number), (switch), (input_boolean), or (binary_sensor) keywords you are asking about.
