Hi everyone,
I am an Android man myself but my wife loves Apple.

So I was wondering if the new Apple companion app support a fast and simple to setup way of triggering switches via tiles/shortcuts or whatever they are called in iOS 🙂

I am using tiles myself and they are super simple to setup and fast to access. I am looking for the same kind of convenience foe my wifes Apple Watch.

Thank you for your help 🙂
Alex

I think that is via a script, you’d need a script to toggle the entity

I still need actions? Is that an Apple or companion app restriction?

Will this restriction still apply when the iOS18 is out?

Not sure what you call by “tiles” but if you mean widget, for now you can use scripts widget and also scripts in Apple Watch.

Direct access to lights and switches is something coming in the future.

Please avoid using iOS actions shared above, this is a legacy approach.

Tiles are the command links in Android quick settings

On Android companion app you do not need to create scripts, automations or actions. You can directly select a switch and toggle that switch through tiles.

So you toggle an entity. That of course is far more convenient than creating a bunch of scripts that serve no other purpose than performing a basic toggle function 🙂

Got it, but as said above, this is something in the radar for iOS but not available yet.
