Is HA still not being able to utilize the long range of the BT 5.0 spec? I have an ORICO BTA-508 that seemingly work ok but is it true that it probably is disconnected quite often in the background because it's a RTL8761B chipset? I'm about to put in an order at Aliexpress and considering getting an ORICO BTA-403 or BTA-409 with a CSR8510A10 chipset.
#Bluetooth 5.0 in HA? Recommended adapter?

In the docs is a list with recommended and known working adapters, if that helps you
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/bluetooth/#installing-a-usb-bluetooth-adapter
I personally ditched the BT adapter in favor of the ESPHome BT proxies. Those can be strategically placed where the BT devices are and proved more reliable to me.
Yeah, I used that list to find the BTA-403 and BTA-409. But I'm still wondering about the BT 5 part.
No 'BT5' in HA until its plumbed in lower down the stack. last i heard its not something that bluez supports directly. and when bluez finally gets support, it would need plumbing in to the async bluetooth library bleak. and then HA could maybe support it. BT5 chipsets may work with HA, but without any of the benefits of BT5. last time anyone looked, none of the sensor devices actually supported in HA at the time would have benefited anyway, though.
Great answer. Thanks. Do you know if the issue on disconnects in the background is still a thing for the realtek chips?
