Hi all

im using ZHA for Zigbee integration and recently added an Ikea Styrbar

I have noticed that the buttons dont work as expected, eg long left or right press triggers a “up short press”

i had a feeling its due to firmware version?

i cannot see any way to upgrade it in the UI, any ideas?

That behavior is due to IKEA making their firmware just for their own needs, not with other platforms in mind.
Usually IKEA firmware updates caused more problems for me, than they solved it.

#

When a firmware update is available via ZHA, it will be shown in the UI

#

If I remember correctly, the IKEA firmware updates are not included at moment, due to some update issues with those.

IKEA updates aren't reliable, unfortunately. They completely bricked bulbs a few months ago. We don't enable them by default but they are easy to enable: https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy/wiki/OTA-Configuration

Specifically, just add the ikea provider type to extra_providers

Do you expect an update to change that left/right button hold event behavior?

With IKEA I think this has happened

Yep

#

And group bindings got removed

#

And other stuff broke… like making bulbs just spontaneously turn on

#

Which I believe necessitated actual physical replacements

I was almost saying, it might be worth the risk shksD
