I use the companion app to lock my door when home zone becomes 0 (when two Android phones are away). But lately it hasn't updated as fast as I'd like. I have background location enabled (not high accuracy). And sensor update frequency at 15 minutes. I read in docs that Location zone sensor should be enabled but does that mean I have to change my automations to check against the Location zone sensor? Or does enabling this just means that the app will update the location faster?

The second option: it'll make location updates slightly faster.
Enabling it will register the zones on your device and the app will get a specific alert from the system when entering/leaving the zone. Based on that alert it'll force an update for your location tracker.
(Location zone is listed in sensor settings in the app but won't actually show up as a sensor on your server.)
