Oof that sounds not so good - the range of ZBT-1 is limited 😅 but not THAT limited. So you either have some super big time interference or you indeed have a broken sensor. Did you try another one ?

Also, make sure to use an extension cable and not plug the ZBT-1 diretcly in a USB3 port

thanks for reaching out! I'm using the extension cable that it came with but might try another one to see if that makes any difference. I tried the other p2 door sensor and it also only works when touching the ZBT-1

Any chance it is the multipan firmware? I'm running in the unsupported docker container route so that is the only firmware the container is happy with

ahhh, multipan is not advised and so is a manual docker install 😉

I would first get rid of multipan

What you could do perhaps, just to rule things out is install the full Home Assistant OS on a pi or VM or whatever and check if that works (as that is the defacto working environment)

If that still gives issues- there is a hardware issue
