#I'm not considering building something

I wasn't talking about building one, because that would be quite challenging. There are tons out there already that run on C or D batteries that detect barks and then try to send a signal to curb the bad behavior. If you can determine what cheap component inside the device does that you can maybe connect that up to a pin on an ESP as a trigger - or rip it out of the device entirely. The gizmos are usually < $50
Apologies, small typo haha
I meant "I'm NOW" haha
But you're right, I think I'm focusing on the wrong thing and wasting time. I can probably just get a speaker to play a recording of the frequency I want.
Main problem I'm trying to fix now is a way to detect the barking. The google transcribe works perfectly on newer phones. But unfortunately I don't have any spare ones laying around.
This might be an option, but it's a bit to undertake

The reason I never built one is that trying to dial in on a barking sound isn't all that simple. The cheap bark free type devices already have it figured out, if they raise a signal on the board then you have a reed without trying to hack through frequencies. Totally up to you but I explored the "make your own bark detector" for various reasons and have given up every time.
Thanks for that, I'm leaning that way too tbh.
I'll just look into a shock collar. Though all the ones I've found so far need you to press a button for them to activate. Have you seen any that will activate automatically when the dog barks?
